Here’s my story:
I first touched a piano when I was around four years old. I used to pick out themes from film scores and improvise my own little songs set to scenes playing in my head. It didn’t take too long for music to become one of the central pillars that held up my heart and mind.
My path led me from piano onto saxophone and an intense interest in jazz that took me all over the Bay Area to study with different teachers, and then across the country to study at Berklee College of Music in Boston, where I studied with many more inspiring teachers and a group of irreplaceable friends.
I want to share the joy of music the same way these teachers and players shared with me.
For me, that means approaching both teaching and performing with an eye toward the roads less travelled, pushing my bandmates and students to shine the way I know they can.
